Our Genealogy
- The first Stewart Genealogy, “The Red Book”, was published by Della Stewart in 1959,
- That first Stewart Genealogy was revised and published by Della Stewart and by committee in 1979,
- The second Stewart Genealogy and Family History, “Heather to Hill”, was published by Margaret Bennet-Alder in 1991,
- The third (and last printed) Stewart Genealogy, “The White Book”, was published by Margaret Bennet-Alder in 2000,
- From 2001 to 2015, Margaret published yearly updates to “The White Book”,
- As of 2016, the most current Stewart Genealogy is on-line, hosted by MyHeritage.com. This on-line platform replaces the third printed genealogy and the updates, published by Margaret between 2000 and 2015,
- The most important feature of this on-line platform is the ability for every family member to view/add/edit their own family information,
- Access to the My Heritage Web Site can be accessed by any family member that has been granted access by a site administrator,
- Should you be interested in helping to keep our genealogy up-to-date, please contact the Reunion Secretary for access to the My Heritage website to view/add/edit your family information …

Why do we attend Family Reunions ?
(taken from a welcome address by Robert McNaughton, past clan chief)
Past, Present and Future
1. The Present – Why are we here?
- Family is a link to our past, and a bridge to our future,
- Family ties are precious threads, no matter where we roam, drawing us closer to home,
- Family is like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one. Even though we take different paths in life, we are still connected by our shared history and our ancestry,
- Family Reunions are a great way to remind us that we part of something greater than ourselves.
2. The Past – What is our heritage?, and why this location?
- We remember our Stewart family history, from the history of the Stewart name to the arrival of John “The Chief” Stewart, John “Jack of the Hill” Stewart and Angus “Red Angus” Stewart to East Williams township in 1831
- Nairn and Ailsa Craig are at the center of East Williams township and the reason for this location
- many of our ancestors are interred in the Nairn Cemetery
3. The Future – What is our legacy? and how can we participate?
- obviously we need volunteers to continue our reunions on the 2nd Saturday of every July
- we are committed to 100 years of Stewart family reunions (and hopefully beyond)
- how do we demonstrate our commitment to maintain and strengthen our family ties? …
- attend our reunions
- provide financial support
- invite family members
- bring family members
- volunteer our time and expertise
- join a committee or stand for office
- keep connected on-line via MyHeritage.com
- sign up to receive on-line calendar alerts for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
